El Sobrante Landfill is a Class 3 regional disposal facility permitted to accept up to 10,000 tons per day, seven days per week. It employs approximately 40 full-time employees. Landfill operations are overseen by the California Integrated Waste Management Board, and the Riverside County Department of Environmental Health.

Dear Friends,
Last year, we announced that we would seek a permit modification to modernize our operations at the El Sobrante Landfill. The changes to our permit will help us operate the landfill more efficiently and reduce traffic impact locally.
Before we submit our permit modification plans to the State, the project’s impact on the local environment needs to be reviewed. The Riverside County Waste Management Department (RCWMD), acting on behalf of the County of Riverside as the lead agency, is responsible for preparing the environmental studies.
